Grontmij’s project, The Devonshire Square, has been awarded a Civic Trust Award.
The Devonshire Square project involved a 'floating' courtyard roof and the regeneration of the ground floor areas of the building which was originally built in 1793 as warehouses for the East India Company. The project has transformed the space into an attractive and desirable urban environment, making a valuable contribution to the enjoyment, comfort and pleasure of its users.
The Civic Trust Awards acknowledge the best in the built environment from architecture to planning, townscape to infrastructure. They also recognise public realm in its wider context and the belief that development should be for the benefit of people.
Grontmij was appointed to the scheme as landscape designer and building services engineer. The project is a key example of Grontmij’s bringing together expertise from across the organisation.
