Grontmij focuses on donating to local, national and international causes through various office based activities and event sponsorship. A selection of the charities and events that we have supported are listed below:
WaterAid
The international charity WaterAid, was set up nearly 30 years ago in order to help the world’s poorest people gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. In order to help this worthwhile cause, Grontmij has sponsored charity Gala Dinners with Severn Trent Water and Anglian Water and the annual Valentines Ball with Scottish Water. 19 employees from across Grontmij recently completed the gruelling WaterAid Trial 100 hillwalking challenge in the Scottish highlands.
Garforth Villa under 12 football team
Grontmij kicked off Garforth Villa’s fundraising efforts to raise money for the club’s under 12’s annual football tour with a cash donation. The donation helped enable the 16-strong squad to compete in the Amsterdam Cup tournament in the Netherlands.
The tour gave the 11 and 12-year-olds the chance to play football against teams from across Europe and also to visit the Ajax stadium.
Easter egg donation
One of the most enthusiastically supported events Grontmij’s head office in Leeds participated in was collecting Easter eggs instead of cash for the monthly dress-down day and donating them to the children’s ward of St James’ Hospital for all the children that faced the prospect of Easter in hospital.
Dress down days
Leeds office based staff contributed to 12 different causes throughout 2008 by holding dress down days at the end of each month raising lots of money for various charities.
Toner cartridge recycling
Action Aid recycles toner cartridges for the Bristol and Leeds offices. Action Aid is a unique partnership of people that are campaigning for a world without poverty. Action Aid works in Africa, Asia and the Americas, listening to, learning from and working in partnership with over 13 million of the world's poorest people.
