15 May 2009 | Grontmij wins a hat trick of water contracts

Grontmij is pleased to announce its appointment on three major framework contracts with water clients in England and Scotland.

Severn Trent Water – Design and Build Contracts

In partnership with Morgan Est, Grontmij has been appointed as designer on Severn Trent Water’s Pipeline and Sewerage lots as part of the Asset Delivery Strategy for AMP5.   The Morgan Est │Grontmij partnership has also been chosen for the Select Tender List for Severn Trent Water’s non infrastructure work.

The appointment is testament to the ongoing delivery partnership between Morgan Est and Grontmij, which has previously been employed on major projects for Yorkshire Water and United Utilities.  In addition, Grontmij is also on the select tender list for pipelines as designers for May Gurney and for sewerage with Barhale.

The appointment of Grontmij with Morgan Est to Severn Trent Water’s design and build framework is an extension to the long term relationship between the companies which stretches back to the early 1990s.  The early start programme for Severn Trent Water’s AMP5 is due to start this month (April 2009).

Scottish Water - Extension of Q&SIII Framework

Scottish Water has recently announced the extension of its existing Consultancy Framework for Q&SIII to 31st March 2010.  Grontmij has been reappointed on the five Lots it is currently working on: project delivery support services, catchment management planning, planning and environmental consultancy services, procurement and programme management and asset information gathering and analysis.

The announcement signals the extension of an ongoing, long term relationship between Grontmij and Scottish Water, with whom the consultancy has worked since the Public Authority was formed in 2002.

Prestigious schemes within the framework to date include strategic studies for sewerage catchments around Glasgow, where Grontmij is assisting Scottish Water with studies that will form part of one of the largest metropolitan drainage studies in the country.  Grontmij is also assisting Scottish Water with their Future Investment Plans.  Scottish Water has currently one of the most successful Early Start Programmes in the UK and Grontmij is helping the company to make preparations for the 2010-2014 Q&SIII(b) period.

@one Alliance reappointment for Anglian Water

Finally, Grontmij is also in the latter stages of negotiations with Anglian Water to be reappointed as a partner within the @one Alliance for AMP5.  In AMP4, all six design & construction partners within the @one alliance operated within a commercial arrangement where the partners were jointly incentivised at a programme level with project teams fully integrated into the @one alliance organisation.  The success of the Alliance in delivering £700million of Anglian Water’s capital expenditure programme for AMP4 means Grontmij has developed a strong relationship with the utility company – one which Grontmij is looking to develop further into AMP5.

Scott Aitken, Grontmij’s Director of Water for the UK and Ireland, commented; ‘The reappointment with three major water utility clients demonstrates our capability and commitment to delivering real value, quality of service and ability to innovate to meet the demands of the UK water industry.  The new appointments offer exciting opportunities for our people and to have secured three major frameworks in the current economy is a real boost.  We look forward to continuing to work closely with all our clients in the water industry to deliver real benefit to their customers.’
