Creating unique hotels in Abu Dhabi
Whitelaw Turkington has developed the landscape design proposal as part of the development of two new hotels on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.
Unique and memorable
The key design objectives were to create a unique, welcoming and memorable guest experience, establishing a sense of arrival and place, whilst connecting visually and physically with the golf course.
Water
Water is a consistent theme that runs through the design, sometimes providing unexpected areas of delight, other occasions a linking feature between two gardens. Whilst the swimming pools are the largest body of water care has been taken to assimilate them into the overall landscape concept through the use of angles, rocks and planting. Elsewhere water is treated in a more modest fashion, such as in within the main entrance, oasis garden and Persian restaurant garden.
