Guardian Newspapers HQ, London
Grontmij was appointed to carry out base build negotiations, monitoring duties and fit-out design for the Guardian’s new headquarters. These included infrastructure upgrades, provision of tenant’s standby generation and enhanced services requirements for specialist facilities such as archive storage, dining, audio-visual and cellular meeting spaces.
In order to develop an optimised building engineering services solution Grontmij worked closely with the client and the rest of the design team. This also ensured that an effective project could be delivered with the base build and fit-out works being carried out in parallel. Grontmij also assisted in the final lease negotiations and monitoring of the base build team.
The project won the 2010 ‘Best Corporate Workplace’ award at the British Council for Offices awards.
