Assistant Structural / Civil Engineer to Design & aid the Management of the Design of multi-disciplinary Onshore Wind Farm Projects.
Outline of role
The role primarily involve carrying out detailed structural analysis and designs of wind farm control buildings, met masts, WTG foundations, water structures and other structures. The role will also involve developing a detailed understanding of the civil infrastructure design elements of wind farms and aid senior civil engineers with designs. The role may also involve periods of working on site to supervise the construction works on behalf or our clients. The core duties and responsibilities of the role are outlined below:-
Design & aid the Management of the Design of multi-disciplinary Wind Farm & Development Site Infrastructure Projects.
Carry out detailed structural analysis and designs of wind farm control buildings, met masts, WTG foundations, water structures and other structures.
Develop a detailed understanding of the civil infrastructure design elements of wind farms and aid senior civil engineers with designs.
Design co-ordination with other departments to ensure delivery of work packages.
Aid project managers to supervise and manage the financial performance & delivery of multi-disciplinary wind farm & development infrastructure projects.
Develop and maintain new and existing client relationships ensuring a high standard of technical and financial delivery.
Assist in the preparation of proposals / bid documentation to further develop the Wind Farm Infrastructure Business.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other departments / offices within Grontmij.
Assisting with structural and civil detailing works as required to ensure key project deadlines are achieved.
Qualifications required
Honours or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering
Working towards professional membership of IStructE or ICE would be beneficial.
Experience required
Experience within the design of multi-disciplinary projects, previous experience in the renewable energy sector would be beneficial.
Proven experience of structural design with primary structural materials – concrete, steel, timber, masonry. Candidates should be capable of undertaking the design ofsimple structures with minimal supervision.
Experience with structural design to Eurocodes would be beneficial.
Previous experience in the design of building structures or bridges would be beneficial.
Previous experience of civils design would be beneficial including statutory authority consultations – SEPA, Roads Authorities etc.

Technically proficient in the design of simple structures.

Further information
Main location of this role is in our Glasgow office but the successful candidate may also be required to work from our Edinburgh office or on Site for short periods as required to suit project requirements.
