Licensing
In order to provide a framework for licensees, the Nuclear Installations Inspectorate has produced a model site license that comprises 36 license conditions. Grontmij provides the tools to create specific summaries for instrument and control equipment evaluation. In this way, the licensee is made fully aware of the relevant issues concerning the modern standards safety case and safety instrument and control equipment.
Meeting regulations
There are specific safety related regulations for the UK relating to process and chemical installations that fall under the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 1999 and the Health and Safety at Work Act. Both require operators to demonstrate that they have a safety management system in place as part of their overall management system.
