During 2006, a large healthcare company carried out an assessment of the safety interlocks within their technetium generator.
This assessment recognised that whilst these interlocks performed their safety function, their integrity was too low to justify the safety claim made upon them.
Detailed analysis and reporting
The healthcare company consulted Grontmij to establish the nature of the hazard and review the event frequency and likelihood of the occurrence. A revised Safety and Integrity Level (SIL) determination was developed that established the basis of design and used to reconcile the safety claims against the known hazard.
