First UK application of TAG Water Framework Directive
Grontmij is part of an integrated team, which was commissioned by Scottish Water to undertake Water Resource Strategic Studies of the 78 zones affected by the Water Framework Directive and Birds and Habitats Directive.
This is the first time in the UK that the TAG Water Framework Directive guidelines were used for a study of water resources.
Principal objectives
The principal objectives of the study were to:
• determine the impact on the supply-demand balance of any likely restrictions on abstraction.
• investigate options to recover any identified potential deficit in a zone
• undertake an environmental appraisal of the options
