Assessing the impact of assets
In response to the Urban Wastewater Treatment and Bathing Water Directives, Scottish Water commissioned Grontmij to act as lead consultant as part of a multi-consultancy modeling and design team to ascertain the impact of their assets on a number of watercourses and bathing beaches.
Challenging problems
This catchment is particularly complex covering a geographical area of approx 125 km2 consisting of both urbanized and rural areas, and a population of more than 300,000. There are two PFI wastewater treatment works discharging to the sea via long sea outfalls, 190 intermittent discharges and 55 pumping stations.
