Grontmij has provided design consultancy services to support the facilities management of buildings and installations across various operational defence establishments. This has involved building, infrastructure or wastewater treatment facility design across the UK including operational airfields, barracks, naval bases, logistics depots and training areas.

In 2005, Carillion Enterprise was awarded the Prime Contract for servicing the MOD’s construction and maintenance requirements for the Central Region, an area encompassing all of Wales, the Midlands and the North of England. The Prime Contract comprises a seven year duration and a total works budget of £1.2bn. Since 2007, Grontmij has been delivering multi-disciplinary design and consultancy services to Carillion Enterprise on a project by project basis at various locations across the Central Region, including North Wales, South Wales, the West Midlands, Leicestershire and Yorkshire.

Grontmij also offers specialist support to development of the built environment including landscape design, BREEAM (DREEAM) fire safety, sustainable energy solutions, building services, energy services including carbon reduction commitment and structural design. We also provide services via the Carbon Trust to establish feasibility of undertaking biomass heating systems on Defence sites.

A major feature of our services is our detailed knowledge of MOD functional standards and procedures, ensuring we work efficiently to deliver work that accords with the particular requirements of individual military and defence customers, wherever they are located.
