In April 2009, Grontmij joined the current Framework Agreement for Technical Support (FATS/3) which is run by the Defence Equipment and Support Technical Services Team within the Ministry of Defence. ‘Technical Support’ under FATS/3 includes technical studies, project and engineering support.
The broad capability areas covered by Grontmij under FATS/3 include:

- Computing Technologies and Mathematical Techniques
- Human Sciences
- Environmental Management
- Integrated Systems Technology
- Installations and Facilities
- Project Management and Acquisition Support functions
- Safety Management Broad Capability
FATS is a pan government framework agreement which can be used by all Ministry of Defence Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), business units and departments and is also available to other Government Departments / public bodies.
Examples of recent Grontmij projects successfully commissioned under FATS/3 include the assurance of the MOD’s 2009 Sustainable Development Report, land quality and environmental assessment on behalf of Defence Estates, environmental due diligence support to regional development agencies and support to local authorities in the remediation of multiple residential properties designated as Part 2A contaminated land.
FATS/3 will run until 31 March 2011, with the option to extend for one further year.
