Matlock Waste Water Treatment Works
Matlock Waste Water Treatment Works
Upgrading a world heritage site
Severn Trent Water proposed to upgrade their existing waste water treatment works at Matlock, Derbyshire. The works included new treatment facilities and a new access bridge across the River Derwent. The site is located within a world heritage site and is constrained by the river, a canal and a railway line.
Specialist services for sensitive area
The scheme was particularly sensitive because of its location. Grontmij undertook the project management of the EIA and led a number of specialist technical studies including ecology, noise, air quality, water quality and flood risk, tourism and recreation, as well as engineering input to the treatment works and bridge design.
