The rationalisation of two York College sites into a single site created the opportunity for a modern, landmark building on a major route into the city. The Grontmij landscape architecture strategy had to be given careful consideration due to the sensitivity of the site’s location, on the city’s edge and adjacent to green belt land.
Grontmij worked in close collaboration with the architects to site the buildings carefully and sensitively into the landscape. Grontmij practice also undertook the landscape and visual impact assessment, which included a full landscape character assessment of the area as well as the production of photomontages illustrating the predicted impact of the proposed development.
