Collis Primary School
Grontmij was part of the design team which developed proposals for the new school building and landscape. The new extension is sited to allow future growth of the school with minimum loss of valuable playing fields.
Reflecting the local suburban grain, the building and landscape are designed in harmony to create airy classrooms opening on to sheltered courtyards, ideal for outdoor classes or informal recreation. Redesign of the forecourt and a new car park clarify the approach to the main entrance and give children a safer route to school. An extended hard playground is linked to the grass pitches by tree planting and includes pergolas for shade.
