Carnegie Pavilion, Leeds
Grontmij has worked alongside Alsop SMC architects for Leeds Metropolitan University, Yorkshire Forward and Yorkshire County Cricket club to deliver a landscape scheme that complements the new state of the art Carnegie pavilion at the Headingley Cricket Ground.
The proposals respond to the faceted exterior of the building with a sculpted landform which follows the idea of a ‘carpet of green’, that flows from the pitch over the building. A simple planting palette of neat dense shrubs create defined shapes that flank the main entrance to the building.
Other landscape elements include a green screen to the eastern face of the building and a yew hedge along the northern boundary of the site.
