7 More London Shortlisted for a CIBSE Award
7 More London Riverside, a Grontmij project, has been shortlisted for The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Building Performance Awards 2012 for the ‘New Build Project of the Year’ category (Private Sector)”. The submission is in collaboration with fit-out Consultants BDP.
The building is the last major building to be erected on the More London development adjacent to Tower Bridge, and the fifth building on the site for which Grontmij provided full building services design. It was handed over to the tenant, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) who were committed to reducing its corporate carbon footprint by occupying a commercial building with excellent sustainable credentials. The detailed design was completed by Grontmij and incorporates a range of measures to provide carbon dioxide savings and renewable energy supplies well in excess of the targets set by the 2006 Building Regulations and the London Plan.
It provides 48,000m2 (NIA) of new office accommodation for 6,300 PricewaterhouseCoopers’ staff. The developer’s Shell & Core was completed in December 2009, with PwC’s Category A and B Fit-out complete in February 2011. This is the first building in London and the first major office in the UK to achieve a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating. With CO2 emissions 75% better than current Building Regulations standards of energy efficiency and an EPC rating of A, it demonstrates that even a large city corporate office building can achieve the highest sustainability standards.
The CIBSE Building Performance Awards recognise, reward and celebrate the best performance, innovation and practice in design, commissioning, construction, installation and operation of sustainable buildings and the manufacturers whose technologies enable energy efficiency.
The awards focus on actual, measured performance, not design intent or performance specifications. Judged by a panel of distinguished industry leaders, winners of the awards know that their work is best in class.
Winners from the shortlisted entries will be announced at the Awards ceremony which will take place on Wednesday 8 February at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane.
