24 May 2011 | Grontmij Building Services’ Project wins Award

The Tapestry Building, one of Grontmij Building Services’ prestigious re-development projects in London’s Devonshire Square, has been awarded best conversion in the London Evening Standard New Homes Award.

Commissioned by Carrot Developments, Grontmij transformed the 18th- Century Grade II listed warehouse into14 luxury residential apartments, complete with high end home entertainment, interior lighting systems, security and access control systems as well as developing flexible retail space on the basement level. The Grontmij team worked to ensure that the high quality loft apartments promoted environmentally responsible usage, whilst still maintaining their appeal to their potential target market.

Geoffrey Palmer, Director of Building Services, Energy and Environment said “Refurbishment projects are never easy. This award recognises the outstanding result that has been achieved in great part by the efforts of our team”.

Now in their 20th year, the London Evening Standard New Homes Awards celebrate the highest standards of skill, design and craftsmanship in today’s new homes. Award winners were announced on Friday May 13 at a ceremony at The Dorchester Hotel and were judged by Evening Standard readers as well as a panel of industry experts.  The awards cover ten categories and recognise excellence across the housing spectrum - from first-time buyer flats to millionaires’ mansions.
