17 Jan 2011 | Roger Preston & Partners and Whitelaw Turkington to rebrand to Grontmij

From February 2011, leading European engineering and environmental consultancy, Grontmij is bringing two recent strategic acquisitions under the Grontmij brand.  Following their acquisitions in 2008, sustainable building services consultancy Roger Preston & Partners and landscape architecture practice Whitelaw Turkington will begin to trade as Grontmij.  The move galvanises the broad offering of services within the built and natural environment under the Grontmij brand.

Both Roger Preston & Partners and Whitelaw Turkington were acquired by Grontmij in early 2008 to bolster the company’s services portfolio as part of a series of strategic acquisitions.

The decision to bring the two expertise areas under the Grontmij brand will enhance the group’s drive to continue sharing knowledge across its international network of offices and portfolio of services.

John Chubb, managing director for Grontmij UK, said: “The strategic decision to bring Roger Preston & Partners and Whitelaw Turkington under the Grontmij brand positions us strongly to respond to increased demand for consultants with a broad range of expertise.  It is the next logical step in the further enhancement of the wider, international Grontmij group and our offering.

“Bringing Roger Preston & Partners and Whitelaw Turkington under the Grontmij brand enables even greater knowledge sharing across the international group.  We value both businesses, will protect the added value they offer to our customers, and bring the strength of being one of Europe’s leading sustainable design engineering consultancies to support them in the future.”

Landscape Architecture

Whitelaw Turkington was founded in 1991 and has an enviable reputation as a leading edge landscape design consultancy. The company has an extensive portfolio of projects which includes the multi-award winning shared space scheme in Ashford, Kent, the Greenwich Peninsula including Peninsula Square at The O2 Arena and the highly-acclaimed St George’s Square in Huddersfield.

The rebrand brings together the international Grontmij family of over 100 landscape architects and urban design specialists. This ensures the company can continue to provide innovative designs which not only respond to each site’s specific geography, topography, heritage and culture, but also incorporate best practice from some of the most inspirational and enduring placemaking schemes across Europe.

Building Services

Grontmij’s Building Services offering provides authoritative engineering advice and is renowned for creative solutions that satisfy demanding business objectives, whilst respecting people and the environment.

Grontmij provides a professional, director-led consultancy of engineers experienced in projects of every type and scale around the world.  As well as general building consulting services, the building services division provides a number of specialisms, including building sustainability, fire safety and engineering, vertical transportation, fit-out design, communications, automation and security systems, critical facilities design and building services asset consultancy.

The Grontmij name represents the combined strength of 11,000 individuals working across the broad spectrum of services in the built and natural environment, meaning that new and existing customers have access to this wide skills base.
