13 Jul 2010 | Grontmij deal with Scottish Water in the pipeline

Grontmij appointed to three Scottish Water frameworks

Leading engineering consultancy, Grontmij has been appointed by Scottish Water to three frameworks for delivery of its £2.5billion Q&SIIIb investment programme.

The framework announcements for 'Technical Strategic Support Services', 'Technical Design Services' and ‘Specialist Consultancy Support Services’ signals the continuation of an ongoing, long term relationship between Grontmij and Scottish Water, with whom the consultancy has worked since the public authority was formed in 2002.

The Technical Strategic Support Services framework will see Grontmij support Scottish Water with asset management and the development of their business and investment plans covering a whole range of activities, including “source to tap” and “sink to sea” initiatives.

Delivery of services under the Technical Design Support framework will incorporate Grontmij’s civil, mechanical, electrical and telemetry skills to design improvements to Scottish Water’s treatment works and sewerage system across Scotland, improving water quality and reducing sewer flooding for customers.

The Specialist Consultancy Support Services framework will be used by Scottish Water to augment their project management teams by seconding Grontmij resources into these roles to deliver projects to time, cost and quality constraints. Grontmij’s technical experts will also be engaged to undertake process audits and peer reviews to ensure that proposed schemes meet both business and technical requirements.

Paul Smedley, Regional Director at Grontmij, said: “We are very pleased to be appointed to these frameworks, which are testament to the fact that our project teams continue to deliver an efficient, innovative service to water & energy utility companies. Scottish Water is a key client and the team has a long-standing relationship with the company, built over many years.

Our technical capability, coupled with over 20 years working with the UK’s water and sewerage companies means we have the knowledge and expertise to deliver detailed, high quality solutions.”

Grontmij, in addition to its multi-disciplinary water engineering asset design business, is a leading provider of water consultancy services for asset management, business processes, risk & value management, carbon assessment, procurement advice and PFI/PPP technical advice to a range of professional clients.

A growing area of the business is water environment, with services such as water resources, supply demand balance, flood risk assessment, hydrology, hydrogeology, hydro-ecology and coastal engineering. Grontmij also offers a complete breadth of services for climate and energy, which involves advising on climate change, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
