Grontmij is communications system designer for the A1 Dishforth to Barton, a 40km, two lane APTR to dual three lane motorway standard upgrade. Services provided include VMS selection and siting, signals, telephones, CCTV design with the associated electrical design work and supervision of the communication’s system installation.

Specialist MIDAS planning expertise

Grontmij also provided specialist MIDAS planning expertise to:
• ensure effective loop positioning for accurate traffic count and vehicle identification
• optimised transponders design to minimise the number of detectors required
• production and validation of the geographic and electronic addressing of the equipment to enable the integration of the new equipment into the existing RCC computer In-station.
