Asset Management

Optimum road maintenance demands expertise and applied knowledge.

Grontmij use RoSy (RoSy®), an asset and pavement management system which is used worldwide for the planning and management of road maintenance.

RoSy provides a comprehensive survey of the road network and gathers all threads of road networks, bridges, furniture and structures and facilitates easy use and updating of data. All the data is stored in one place, allowing for the feasibility of making models and calculations across general project types.   RoSy can run as standalone software accessing the SQL or Orcale server using its ArcGIS runtime or it can be run inside ArcGIS and can be customised to meet the client’s local requirements.

RoSy is designed as a modular product that clients can add to as required, the standard functionality is provided by Grontmij’s “RoSyBase”, this is a database central to the application and contains all of the geometric and condition data. RoSyBase contains all of the survey data for distress and general conditions including Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) for residual life. All of the asset information can be displayed as customised thematic maps in Grontmij’s GIS interface “RoSyMap” and this in turn be processed in ArcGIS for output to mapping and related database or mapping servers.

Grontmij used RoSyPlan, a planning and budget optimisation tool that contains the construction costs for all repairs and replacement of the road network. These costs are scalable to suit the econometrics of various sizes of repairs. This module also contains the deterioration models which are used as part of the maintenance planning, budget optimisation and capital value assessment.

Grontmji also also has a service module to handle routine maintenance such as:

  • sweeping, gully emptying, snow clearance
  • calls from the public reporting defects in infrastructure which are actioned to internal staff or the maintenance contractor

Asset Surveys

Grontmij is able to provide asset surveys using vehicle mounted equipment for course and detailed visual inspections utilising Cam Survey software.

Grontmij deploy GPS hand help computers to rapidly gather condition and location data on highway infrastructure such as footpaths, lamp posts and signage.  Each survey is tailored to the client’s requirements and typically produces an inventory of the relevant assets with photographs of damaged features, allowing the client to rapidly prioritise maintenance spending. Grontmij also has an ARRB Hawkeye laser scanning road survey vehicle which allows for quality and automated data collection and road speed surveys to be conducted.
