Transport assessment and travel plan

Wealmoor Atherstone Ltd asked Grontmij to produce a transport assessment and travel plan in support of the proposed reconstruction of a B8 (storage and distribution) agricultural packhouse, in Atherstone on Stour, that had been destroyed by fire two years previous.

The development site is located in a rural area; therefore, it is not in proximity to many services or convenient facilities. Therefore, Grontmij placed emphasis on the client’s commitment to provide private coach services for transporting employees between the site and a pick up/ drop off point in Birmingham. By focusing on this service it became possible to justify the rural location and mitigate against the likelihood that the site would be considered unsustainable.

Traffic analysis and forecasting

Our traffic analysis and forecasting led us to the conclusion that there were no current or potential traffic impact issues in relation to the development or on the surrounding highway network. Through the use of PICADY 5, it was demonstrated that the existing A3400 junction will almost certainly operate satisfactorily in all assessment years, even with the addition of the development traffic.
