Enhancement to WTW and Borehole Security
Enhancement to WTW and Borehole Security
Providing secure water treatment across Scotland
The overall project objective was to identify solutions and determine the cost for the enhancement of the overall security of operational Water Treatment Works (WTW) and related borehole installations in Scotland.
Assessing solutions
Grontmij was appointed to carry out the site surveys, site assessments and proposed security solution determinations at selected WTWs (approximately 30% of the current WTW asset base). Grontmij compiled solution workbooks for the selected sites that comprised high level solution selection, summarised option descriptions and data captured from the site visit programme.
Plans for installation
Using a development of the statistical financial model used for the 2DBP update, the estimated base capital costs for the selected option from each of the WTWs were used to generate a total base capital programme estimate for all the WTWs and borehole sites that are projected to be operational by the end of SR10 period.
