A proven track record
Grontmij has extensive experience of carrying out a wide range of process related services in both potable water and waste water treatment. Although our core activities are associated with the process design of new, refurbished and augmented works, we also undertake investigative work into specialist areas such as odour emission control, effluent reuse, industrial effluent treatment and process optimisation.
Process investigations
Usually the first step is to carry out an investigation to determine the underlying cause of a problem such as effluent non compliance, odour complaints or poor digester performance. Existing available information is gathered such as flows treated and process unit sizes, but often further data gathering is required. Grontmij is able to commission these further studies and interpret the results correctly.
Feasibility studies
Based on the process investigation the best solution to the problem is determined. Although driven by process requirements, this study will require the key input of civil and mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure that the proposed solution is practical and offers the lowest whole life cost possible.
Detailed design
Process engineers will write the outline process control philosophy and check the pipe and instrumentation drawings.
Commissioning
Grontmij can provide support to the successful commissioning of process plant including sampling, on site analysis and input into the key decisions to be taken.
Strategic studies
Grontmij provides process support on strategic issues in support of client OFWAT submissions and other strategic aspects, providing generic solutions to problems such as odour treatment, effluent reuse for potable water after enhanced treatment and mitigation measures to ensure the resilience of major process plant to emergencies such as flooding and fire. The solutions provided, whilst high level, are practical, workable solutions and reflect best industry practice.
Technical advisor
Grontmij provides an independent technical process review on proposed capital schemes and private finance schemes for the client to ensure that best practice is used throughout by the tenderer and the solution will fully meet the requirements of the scheme.
