DEMON
DEMON is an alternative to the SHARON process, developed by the University of Innsbruck and introduced to the entire European market under licence by Grontmij.
DEMON improves upon SHARON’s sustainable credentials by using even less oxygen and requiring no carbon source in the treatment process.
The benefits of DEMON
This new biological water treatment technology removes high concentrations of nitrogen from waste water by natural biological means.
DEMON achieves better treatment than existing conventional technologies, is more energy efficient and could constitute a step towards the goal of an energy-neutral wastewater treatment plant.
DEMON was nominated for the World Energy Globe Award at the beginning of June 2008.
