Lea Valley
Grontmij was engaged to carry out a study of the Lea Valley Reservoir network.
The region comprises of thirteen large reservoirs in the north London area, together with a number of remote borehole sites supplying water into Copper Mills treatment works. The study comprised of initial condition survey and investigations to highlight details of technical and operational issues. Additionally, we were able to provide a definitive process flow description to assist site operations.
Ways to improve
The description resulted in a number of proposals for improvements to monitoring and management of the water flow through the reservoir system, and included improvements to the site SCADA system to add new monitoring instrumentation and signals to provide better level and flow information.
These solutions were presented to Thames Water ordered by priority, and included indicative costs, outline schedule, and a strategy for implementation.
